Lesson 1: Stock up on pinecones in the proper season. Summer is not the time to go looking for fallen pinecones apparently. Fortunately we found a bunch at the park so I got a grocery bag full.
Lesson 2: Make these outside!!!!! It took 15 minutes to sweep up all the spilled birdseed!

Love it! And yes, it can get messy. One reader suggested to make them in a kiddie pool for easy clean up!
