My attempt at homemade patriotism

I found this really neat blog a while back that tells you how you can make professional & cool looking stuff with supplies from the dollar store.

While I was in the dollar store today, my eye caught this really cute patriotic dish towel.

The first thing that popped into my head was "I could make something with that." As I stood staring at it a moment longer I thought, "I could make a yard flag with that, so easy!" So since I didn't have a patriotic yard flag, I forked over my $1 for the towel.

It's not a fuzzy type towel but more of like a flour sack type material. All I had to do was fold over one end and hem it.

Then I popped it on the flag holder.

The only thing that bothers me about it is that it looks like it's hanging backwards/upsidedown.
I had to hem the side without the stars because the blue block was too small. If I were to hem that end of it there would hardly be any blue/stars left.
But I guess it's not *really* a flag, so does it matter? I mean it doesn't even have 13 stripes. Or 50 stars.
I think it looks cute.

Thank you!! It was embarrassingly easy to do. I'll have to keep my eyes open for other holiday dish towels at the dollar store!
